Bringing Delaney Home: Book review
The last couple of months have been hard. Between losing my brother and caring for my mother in law, I am not up to much of anything. I just need a mental vacation. In order to escape, I went Amazon and looked for some light reading.
My favorite quote is the first sentence on chapter 25. "Your life is a work in progress."
This is so true for all of us. Everyday we work to become the person we want to be. We evolve to take on the tasks of parenthood, our jobs and to be good members of society. Heck, it's January, the month of resolutions and promises to change. Think of how this quote reflects your life.

While there, I came across the Cates' Brothers series by Lee Kilraine. Bringing Delaney Home is the first book in this series. Here we are introduced to Quinn Cates, a cop in Climax North Carolina, and Delaney Lyons, a military nurse who was wounded and is struggling with PTSD.
Back in high school, Quinn had a huge crush on Delaney, but it never went anywhere. After seeing her again, it seems that his feelings didn't change when they went their separate ways. Delaney, on the other hand, can't seem to convince herself that she deserves happiness or will fit into Quinn's life. It's a typical back and forth light reading romance novel.
I personally loved the book. I loved seeing Delaney's character develop and gain strength. I love the relationship she develops with the over-weight kid at the high school track. My heart breaks for her struggle adjusting to her amputated leg, because I have seen my husband face and overcome that as well.
My favorite quote is the first sentence on chapter 25. "Your life is a work in progress."

Read the book. Find out if Quinn and Delaney are meant to be, or if they are too broken to find happiness. Meet the rest of the town of Climax, which by the way is a real place. I can only hope the Simon sisters exist in some way as well.
Let me know your opinion.
Happy reading.
