Alice in Wonderland: Disney Animated Movie Review
Oh my goodness do I feel old today. I was researching some basic information for this post today and read that the Disney Classic Alice in Wonderland was originally released in 1951. Neither of my parents were even alive at that time! Yet the movie still holds up and is being enjoyed by the newest generation in my house this morning. Mind blown.
If you love Lewis Carroll's Alice stories as much as I do, I am sure that you realize this movie combines both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. You have the mad tea party and crochet with the queen from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum battling along with the talking flowers from Through the Looking Glass. The only thing missing from the books is the Duchess and her pig baby.
I'm not sure about your opinion, but I am happy to give up a few details from the books in exchange for the soundtrack of this film. My very favorite song is the title song, Alice in Wonderland. I find myself humming it as I type, or whenever I think of this movie. Baby Bear had a great time imitating the Tweedle brothers during How D'Ye Do and Shake Hands. And of course, the Unbirthday Song makes me sing along.
In recent years, Disney has out done themselves with great movies like Moana, Cocoa, and The Incredibles 2. I am a kid at heart, and enjoy watching them with my children. I enjoy sharing the timeless, classic Disney movies, like Alice in Wonderland with my children even more. Seeing their reactions, reminds me how I felt watching it for the first time as well, and brings back happy childhood memories.
Tell me about your favorite classic Disney movie.
Until next time,
Kristie
