Somerset Cafe Breakfast
I've been having a rough week. I had a sleep study to test for sleep apnea, and developed a six day migraine after the process. My toddler has become super clingy and won't let me move, because she has to be touching me at all times. On top of that, I am super emotional and weepy, and missing my brother.
My husband thought it would be a nice treat to go out to breakfast. We decided to try the little cafe in town, called Somerset Cafe. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, six days a week. The building is rather nondescript and the decor is almost banquet hall style. There are only tables with high-backed teal chairs; no booths, or cute themes along the walls.
I was a little bit leery, but I'm willing to try anything once. The staff was super nice, and attentive. Our coffee cups were regularly refilled, as was our water. That's where the service greatness ended. There were only three tables in use while we were there and the food took FOREVER to arrive. My toddler built and knocked over six creamer towers before we received breakfast.
Fortunately, the food was pretty good. I have the 2x2x2, which is two eggs, two sausages (I substituted the ham) and two pancakes. My scrambled eggs were fluffy without being too moist. The ham was just the right amount of smoky and salty. And the pancakes were spongy enough to hold the syrup without falling apart. Mmmm
All in all, I would give this restaurant a 3 out of 5. The food was good and the restaurant was clean. The problem is that the decor is outdated and I do not have time to spend 23 minutes waiting for breakfast to arrive after I order.
